Die Linse im Auge bündelt Licht. Dadurch kann das Auge scharf sehen. Die häufigste Ursache für Grauen Star ist das Alter. Im Alter wird die Linse langsam trübe. Die trübe Linse ist Grauer Star (Katarakt). Durch Grauen Star wird das Licht gestreut, wodurch das Auge Schwierigkeiten hat, zu fokussieren. Grauer Star entsteht häufig in beiden Augen. Jedoch kann eine Linse schneller als die andere eintrüben.

Die Alterung Ihrer Linse

Ihre Linse kann so langsam eintrüben, dass Sie zunächst keinen Unterschied beim Sehen wahrnehmen. Wird der Graue Star jedoch schlimmer, hat das Auge Schwierigkeiten beim Fokussieren. In frühen Stadien können Sie möglicherweise mit einer Brille wieder besser sehen. Wenn die Linse aber noch trüber wird, kann Ihr Arzt/Ihre Ärztin Ihnen eine Operation vorschlagen, um Ihre Sehkraft wiederherzustellen.
