1. Wash your hands.
2. Disconnect the drainage tube.
3. Connect the backup bag to the catheter.
4. Open the valve to drain the bag into the toilet.
5. Wash the outside of the bag.
6. Close the valve.
7. Mix warm water and soap.
8. Pour soapy water into the bag.
9. Swish the water around.
10. Open the valve to drain the bag.
11. Close the valve.
12. Use a cleaning solution your doctor recommends.
13. Pour the cleaning solution into the bag.
14. Swish the cleaning solution around.
15. Let the bag sit for 30 minutes.
16. Open the valve to empty the bag.
17. Close the valve.
18. Rinse the inside of the bag.
19. Empty the bag again, and leave the valve open.
20. Hang the bag up to air dry.
21. Wash your hands.
